Speak your reasoning. Nothing about who you are is kept.

How to get the most from Deep Listen

What it is. Deep Listen captures how you think: the rules of thumb you have built over years, what you notice before the tests come back, what you rule out and why. Most of it is never written down. A minute at a time, it builds a record of your reasoning that belongs to you.

Fire and forget. After a case, or whenever a thought strikes you, tap Record and think aloud for about a minute. That is all that is ever required.

Talk reasoning, not documentation. What caught your eye? What did you see, hear or feel yourself? What did you rule out, and why? What settled the decision? What do you expect to happen, and by when? What would you warn a junior about?

Today's prompt. The line above the Record button changes as your notes build up. It points to what your notes rarely contain. Use it if it fits the case, ignore it if not.

Glance at your transcript. Words we were not sure of are highlighted. If anything is misheard, especially no/not, drug names, numbers or left/right, tap Correct this.

A colleague noticed. Under each note you will see one observation from a senior in your field. There is nothing to answer. If it sparks something, tap Add a thought.

Case numbers and follow-ups. Saying a case number and date at the start is optional. If you later record how a case turned out, use the same number so the two can be matched.

An example. A note can be as simple as this:

No patient number, no summary. Just what he noticed, felt, ruled out and expects.

Practicalities. Record somewhere quiet; the phone hears everything in the room. Up to 10 notes a day. If the connection drops, the note waits safely on your phone until it can be sent.

Privacy. Nothing identifies you or your patients. Names are removed and the recording is deleted once it has been transcribed. Your private code is the only key to your notes, so keep it safe.

Adding a thought to this note

Tap record and say whatever you want to add. It is kept with the original note.

Tell me what you were thinking, not what you'd write in the notes.
